In just four years, voters in 64 countries will go to the polls to elect their next heads of state, as well as elect members of parliament, in elections that will affect 447 million people around the world.
The year 2024 will be a "pivotal moment for global politics," according to Octa, which predicts that 10 countries will see new heads of state, while 11 will see parliamentary shifts.
The bulk of the voting will take place in Europe, where 19 countries will hold elections for the European Parliament, as well as in the UK, where Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has agreed to an early election, originally scheduled for January 2025, to take place in the second half of 2024.
In the US, elections will take place for president, vice president, and members of Congress.
