The UN has set a goal of eradicating extreme poverty in the world's poorest countries by 2030.

That's more than doubling the number of people living in poverty in the world's poorest countries from the current 9% to 25% by 2022, the BBC reports.

According to a new UN report, 25% of the world's population will be living in extreme poverty by 2022, while the current 9% are living in extreme poverty.

The report says the world's poorest countries have "major challenges" that prevent them from accelerating progress toward structural transformation and alleviating poverty.

The report says the majority of people in the world's poorest countries are still engaged in agricultural activities that have "only been minimal" due to lack of mechanization.

The countries in the report are Malawi, Mozambique, Mozambique, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, and Democratic Republic of Congo. Read the Entire Article
