Basma Majerbi Honoured with Canada Clean50 Award for Sustainability Leadership

"We need to build capacity at all levels to unlock the potential of finance as a powerful tool for change, especially at a time when private capital is crucial in driving the global transition to a net-zero economy," says Basma Majerbi, an associate professor at the University of Victoria in Canada.

That's why she's been named one of the country's most visionary leaders in the "education and thought leadership" category of the Clean50 Awards, which recognize people who have made "significant strides in advancing sustainability and climate action," per the CBC.

"To receive this Clean50 award is truly indicative of nation-wide and personal leadership in the Education & Thought Leadership category," says Gavin Pitchford, CEO of Delta Management Group, which runs the awards.

Majerbi is the founder and director of the UVic Impact Investing Hub, which trains more than 100 students and businesses in how to invest in climate change, biodiversity, and rising inequalities, per the Globe and Mail.

The Hub, which is set to open in 2023, is located at UVic's Gustavson School of Business and aims to "bridge critical knowledge gaps by empowering students, businesses, and community members to collaborate on financial strategies that address pressing local and global challenges," says Read the Entire Article
