Swiss impact investment firm Blue Earth Capital has invested more than $16 million in an Indian company that aims to help small farmers cope with climate change, the BBC reports.
The investment in Samunnati is the first from Blue Earth Capital, which aims to invest in areas such as climate adaptation, resilience, and mitigation practices in developing countries.
According to the Indian Express, Samunnati is a "seemingly agriculture value chain enabler."
It works with farmers to help them grow their crops, sell their produce, and market their products.
Blue Earth will be investing in Samunnati's current projects as well as future ones.
"The projects will focus on climate adaptation, resilience, and mitigation practices," the Times of India quotes Samunnati CEO Anil Kumar as saying.
