When it comes to giving back to the community, there's a growing number of ways companies can do so, and a new report from Social Enterprise UK finds that companies in the UK are spending more than half a billion dollars with social enterprises each year, the Guardian reports.

Companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Nationwide, and PwC are among those taking part in the Buy Social Corporate Challenge, in which they work with social enterprises to boost corporate spending on impact.

Since its launch in 2016, the challenge has seen a total of 477 million dollars spent with 30 companies, per the report, which also found that in 2023, the program's highest trading levels have occurred, with partners spending more than a quarter of the project's total spending.

The Buy Social Corporate Challenge is part of the government's Climate Action Week, which also includes a series of events focused on social enterprise.

The report found that more than half of social enterprises have been founded or co-founded by women, and a third have been established for more than 10 years, per the Guardian.
